Thanks to a bit of keyboard foolery, you can create your own Windows BSOD in 3 simple keystrokes. It turns out this function was built into Windows for testing purposes, so it's not a bug, and it won't have any side effects.

24.com launches video sharing site PLAY

24.com, the digital arm of South African media giant Media24, has expanded it’s social networking portfolio with the launch of their video sharing service, PLAY. Earlier in the year 24.com launched Laaik.it - their content bookmarking service - which was their debut in social media market.

Google's "Knol" Reinvents Wikipedia

Google appears to be reinventing Wikipedia with their new product that they call knol (not yet publicly available). In an attempt to gather human knowledge, Google will accept articles from users who will be credited with the article by name. If they want, they can allow ads to appear alongside the content and they will be getting a share of the profits if that"s the case. Other users will be allowed to rate, edit or comment on the articles.

Use your iPod earphones as a MIC

My wife's laptop does not have a built-in microphone and she's always complaining when someone calls her on Skype (she has the same Skype account setup at home and the office and mostly receives calls at the office but sometimes people call her when she is logged in at home). She does not want to carry around a microphone, so I suggested that she plug her iPod's headphones (which she almost always carries with her) into the MIC jack and use it as a microphone. The quality isn’t that great, but for emergencies its OK.

Study: stores put customer data at risk with poor WiFi security practices

Wireless security manufacturer AirDefense describes WEP Encryption as "one of the weakest protocols for wireless data encryption". The largest incident of consumer data theft to date is being blamed on WEP, which has been notoriously easy to hack since as far back as 2001.
